Sleeping Mutts
What’s sweeter than a sleeping child? For those of us not blessed with children or grandchildren, the answer is a snoozing dog. Why does the sight of a pup lost in dreams melt our hearts? I have no idea, but today’s post introduces a new theme for our reader photo page. I hope this nudges some of you to send photos that make us say “aahh”. As added incentive, I’ll be announcing a “Best Sleeping Dog Photo Contest” in the near future, so stay tuned.

When Ella first came to us, she respected the boundaries of our old dog Siggy, but she stuck like glue to his boundary edges.

She liked to cram herself into Sig’s bed in the office.

When Ella’s cold or insecure, she curls into a tiny package.

But when she’s relaxed she likes to air out her underside.

Hobbit can sleep almost anywhere. As a puppy, he’d fall asleep in my lap with his head on the keyboard.

And he’d drop exhausted on a favorite toy after a morning of play.

In the office, Hobbit curls up in this chair next to the window. He often drifts into lala land with his head resting on the arm of the chair, looking out the window.

But his favorite place to roost is the back of the couch, where he molds the cushion into a perfect nest.
