YES!!! You could always keep it to yourself, reserving judgment until you've tried it for a few weeks. If you run out of steam or it's not helping, no one will be any the wiser. :)

Daniel Radcliffe emphasized your point about the weather. He looked to be melting in his interviews at the opening. The searing sun makes a joke of all those snow-covered shops in Hogsmeade. If I were to go, I'd wait until winter when the atmosphere helped set the mood. But I much prefer your suggestion, Lia. England and Scotland are the places to experience Harry Potter's world. I'll daydream about that!

If you want to walk the magical halls of Hogwarts all you have to do is go on a sight-seeing tour of Harry Potter locations in England! The Hogwarts hall is modelled on the one at Oxford University, for instance. You can take the train ride through the same scenery in Scotland that Harry travels through on his way to Hogwarts.

How can the Florida climate and landscaping possibly give the proper 'dour' atmosphere? Can they bottle Scottish mist?

Would be fun to go to Ollivanders, though... :)

Rahma, the difference in my synopsis was night and day. I learned so much. Mary, you'll get angel wings for taking on the nearly impossible! You didn't stop until the last question was answered and all those words made sense.

What a great class! Now that I know about it, I am sad too that it won't be offered again. Who knew these peripheral docs would be part of the publishing process? Sounds like it was worth the agony.

That was what made this book so scary for me. Anderson segued smoothly from today into a future that's not hard to imagine. Brrr...I have shivers just thinking about it.

I absolutely loved this book, and was subsequently terrified when I learned how very close we are to making this vision a reality. A couple months ago, there was an article in National Geographic about a group of researchers who were able to install wifi implants into the brains of chimps that would enable them to manipulate a robotic arm just by giving commands by thinking (i.e. Pick up Banana. Bring banana to my mouth. Etc.) Computer chips hardwired into living brains. The future, apparently, is now.

You're right. This is creepy, but it's the kind of science fiction I like -- the kind that can raise social consciousness -- something I worry about, among a host of other things. :-)

Great review. Glad I met you over at Scribblerati.
I'm having a look around your blog and love what I've seen so far. Awesome art work.
